Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of legislative developments related to the self-employed entrepreneur system on local economic development in Algeria. It relied on a descriptive-analytical approach through a study of legal texts and an analysis of official data and statistics. The results showed that recent amendments, such as tax exemptions, the expansion of the list of activities, and the inclusion of micro-imports, have contributed to attracting thousands of young people and integrating a significant portion of the informal economy. Digital activities and innovative services have also emerged as a key driver of growth, especially in rural areas. However, financing challenges, weak training, and a lack of digital infrastructure remain obstacles to sustainability, calling for updating the legal framework and strengthening financial and professional support mechanisms.
